June 4, 2010 at 8:26 am (author interview, author promotion, book promotion, spirituality, Uncategorized, virtual blog tour, virtual book tour, women in transition, write what you know) (, , , )

You have been invited to share your promotional experience with others.

Your Name: Alysa Braceau, Dreamshield

1. Where you are from and where are you now?

I am from the Netherlands (Europe) and Haarlem is were I live (a few miles from Amsterdam).
2. How did you get started writing?

That was about ten years ago.  It started when I friend of mine, who was a journalist, suggested I write my personal account and send it to magazine after a spiritual oriented workshop. So, I did and it turned out well. After that, I started writing as a freelancer for various magazines about spiritual, new age workshops and courses
3. What do you do when you are not writing?

I do a combination of different things. I’m working at a publishing company and I have a healing practice. In addition, I am very happy being the mother of an energetic and swirling 6-year old daughter. Accompanied by great friends, I have never a dull moment.
4. What would readers like to know about you?

They will like to know that I can travel with my dream body… and that readers can learn this skill also…

5. What inspired your first book?

Meeting a “man of Knowledge’ who taught me the art of mastering conscious dreaming and to be able to share this knowledge inspired me to write my book.

6. How many books have you written?

I have written one book: The Sorcerer’s Dream

7. What are the titles of your books and what genres are they?

The Sorcerer’s Dream: Dreaming and Spiritual Adventure in a New Millenium
8. Why are you specially qualified to write about this topic?

I mastered the art of conscious dreaming in the past years and I was an apprentice of the Indian ‘Man of Knowledge’ Running Deer.
9. How do you manage to keep yourself focused and on track when you’re writing a book?

Oh, that was never a problem. I am not a fiction novelist but write about a certain topic I was taught about. It felt like an encouraging energy at my back was helping to bring this writing project to the finish.

10. Do you write to make money, for the love of writing or both?

For the love and for freedom!

11. What are some unique methods of marketing you have used? Which were the most successful?

I published my book in the Netherlands first and the most successful thing I did there was writing articles about my (dream) work to be published in magazines.

12. Do you sell through a website? If so, what’s the address? If not, why not?

I have a website: www.dreamshield.nl

Please visit.
13. Where can people order your books?

Booklocker – http://www.booklocker.com/books/4654.html

Amazon – http://www.amazon.com/Sorcerers-Dream-Dreamshield-Alysa-Braceau/dp/1609101561
14. What format are your books – e-book, print, audio etc?

Print (paperback) and e-book

15. Will you write more books?

Oh yes, at least two or more…

16. What do you have in the works now?

My book is about my initiation into the sorcerer’s world and mastering conscious dreaming. It is an exciting spiritual adventure that takes you into the magic realms of the unknown. You can read it and learn more about:

Mastering conscious dreaming, dreaming practices,  traveling to the unknown, dreaming and the meaning of sexual energy, the healing of your inner child and the way to reach the totality of the Self by facing and releasing your emotional,  physical and spiritual blocks.
17. What does the future hold for you and your books?

I hope many enthusiastic readers and fellow travelers to explore the boundless unknown of dreaming and creativity.

18. What was the most successful thing you did to promote your books?

When my book came out in the Netherlands I went to a spiritual fair where I start signing books. While I was there, I met a book promoter and publisher who offered me the opportunity to write a weekly column in his magazine and free promotion by making a workshop video and an interview on internet tv.

19. What was the least successful thing you did to promote your books?

The least successful, was an advertisement in a spiritual orientated newspaper. The advertisement came out very bad (unclear) and the owner of the magazine wasn’t willing to refund my money or replace my ad.
20. What makes this book special to you?

I love to write about the art of conscious dreaming and to share this knowledge with others. In addition, I had the chance to write it the way I thought it would be best, despite the fact that the content might not be very mainstream.

21. What sort of comments have you gotten about the content of the book?

What I hear is that people start dreaming while reading my book as if they travel along with my experiences and they enjoy that a lot. People find it to be a challenging, confrontational and exciting trip.

22. What makes this a book that other people MUST read and WHY?

People must read it because this makes you more aware of yourself and your surroundings. You can come to the point where you realize that conscious dreaming feels as real as living in the everyday reality. Mastering conscious dreaming can bring you to the point where you discover that you are the creator of your own reality in a more conscious way.

23. What people NEED to read this book and WHY?

People that are at a point where they want to explore more about themselves, their needs and to find out that they want to have more influence over their lives. They come to understand they want to live more consciously and use their gifts to live a (more) happy and self-fulfilling life.
24. What sparks your creativity? Any tips to help others spark their own creativity?

In fact every moment of pleasure, relaxation and/or rest (stepping out of the structure of daily life) sparks my creativity. So, that’s why I build in those moments a few times a week by taking a walk in the dunes or yoga. I’m open to all impressions that come to me and welcome them as gifts.

25. What do you think motivates people to become authors? What motivated you to get into this unusual industry?

I love to entrust experiences and thoughts to paper and the opportunity to share it with others.
26. Tell me about the most unusual things you have done to promote any books?

Knocking on the door of book stores in Amsterdam and offering them my book, a flyer and a poster and tell them more about my book. Most of them were pretty enthusiastic about this action.
27. If a potential reader thinks that your book wouldn’t interest them, what would you say to convince them to buy? I’m thinking something better than “Its the greatest book ever.” Give me something more specific :)

I would say: My book is not only about dreaming, its about adventure, love, exploring the unknown. Besides that, this book makes you laugh. I fell in love deeply with my teacher and made a fool out of myself. Most people in my place would know right away that it would be impossible with a naqual. By the way wouldn’t you like to know more about the connection between dreaming and increasing your sexual energy?

28. Why does the topic of your book interest you? Why would it interest potential readers? Give us a hook to reel in new readers.

I tried to examine my dreams when I was young and it felt very natural to be curious about what these dreams were telling me. I found out that by writing them down, I started to understand my dreams and I could remember them better. I noticed they developed in conscious dreaming (dreaming while being aware that you are dreaming) and I enjoyed that a lot, it encouraged me to go on.

Why would it interest potential readers? Well, cconscious dreaming is big fun because it gives you a great feeling. If you dream consciously, you have control over events. Or, you have the realization that you can control the situation. There will be a day that you can instruct yourself to dream about something; to fly like a bird or to meet a deceased loved one. So, why not give it a try. (In my book you will find all the dreaming practices by which you can achieve conscious dreaming in about 4 weeks).

You can come to the realization that conscious dreaming gives you the same feeling as living in the everyday reality, that makes you think and want to explore more about the two realities.

An Interview to Share The Loose End of the Rainbow

May 4, 2010 at 11:19 pm (author interview, author promotion, book promotion, Uncategorized)

1 – How did you get interested in the topic that’s featured in your book?

My maternal grandparents were part Native American Indian. From that knowledge I developed an interest and a lifelong study of Native American peoples.

2 – Tell us a bit about your background. What have you done in the past that relates to your book and that topic?

Since my teen years I’ve been involved with Native American community organizations and also with organizations that promote equal respect for all people. I have also cared about environmental concerns. My youth/YA fantasy novel, THE LOOSE END OF THE RAINBOW is the first in a trilogy. It features Native American youth and young adults as the main characters.  The second book will feature Tibetan youth and young adults, and the third will feature African youth and young adults. These main characters help young people throughout the world in the spirit of mutual respect and cultural harmony.

3 – What advice would you give to someone who is interested in your topic?

I would urge them to strive to teach the people in their lives, especially young people, about environmental responsibility and about the universal need for cultural harmony. Regardless of our age, we each have a responsibility to this planet, and we each can chose to reject racial discrimination, intolerance, and narrow-mindedness by refusing to value any race of people more than another race of people.

4 – What do you see as the benefit to participating in groups and organizations? My first thought would be networking opportunities and the chance for personal and business growth. What are your reasons?

Participating in groups and organizations is a way to join efforts with likeminded people to make a positive difference for a specific cause. Whatever our interests are, if we join efforts with people we have multiple hands and minds working together for a common cause. This will usually contribute to personal growth and perhaps to business growth too.

5 – Who is the ideal person to read your book? If each person that reads this was going to recommend your book to one person, what sort of person would they want to chose?

Ideally, the people that I most want to read my novel are school principals, teachers, youth advocates, especially those that serve underprivileged and at-risk youth, and parents. I believe these adults will recognize the value of the multifaceted aspects of this novel and will appreciate how this story can appeal to young readers. The target age group is approximately 11-22 years old, but the novel can be enjoyed by adults of all ages and by younger readers with advanced reading skills.  I know a nine-year-old who is a big fan of the characters.  She’s excitedly awaiting the second book in the trilogy. Regarding recommending my book to others, I hope that the adults who read THE LOOSE END OF THE RAINBOW will put it into the hands of the young people in their lives. I wrote this novel especially for young readers to enchant them with an intriguing fantasy that will enthrall their imaginations.  I also wish to inspire young readers to treat all people with respect, and to help protect and take care of the earth.

6 – What do you think ignites a person’s creativity?

For me, an active imagination and an ability to speculate is my lit match.  Something that attracts my interest is a flash of a flicker that could spark once and then disappear in a thin swirl of dissipating smoke if not lit by my imagination and lit my willingness to wonder. I believe that most people can be creative if they will allow their imaginations to soar. Some people have an extraordinary talent, but even people that believe that they aren’t gifted can be creative if they will allow their imaginations free reign.

7 – What have you found to be the biggest stumbling block for people who want to start writing?

I can think of three huge stumbling blocks off the top of my head.

1. A LACK OF TRAINING.

Writing is a learned craft. Diligently study it. Take writing classes, read books about writing, and join writing groups. Also, in my opinion, a serious writer must be an avid read; he/she must constantly read. Reading teaches. If you want to write well-written horror stories, read well-written horror stories. If you want to write well-written mysteries, read well-written mysteries. If you want to write well-written murder mysteries, read well-written murder mysteries and study forensics. Don’t do this to copy or to imitate other writers. Do this to learn. Every skilled writer can be a teacher to you for the price of his/her book. Unskilled writers can be valuable teachers too. Their writing shares examples of mistakes and errors that you wish to avoid.

2. A RELUCTANCE TO REVISE.

I’ve met writers that believe what they write is “pure” from the start. They don’t want to revise. They want to “honor” what was gifted to them from their muse. I think that is ridiculous. Few of us write perfectly in our first draft. Revising smoothes, polishes, shapes, and refines our writing. It enables us to develop our stories and to fully create our characters. It allows us to correct mistakes, to rearrange material, etc. I’m constantly revising. It is an ongoing, laborious, tendentious, exciting, and wonderful process of improvement.  Our readers deserve the best writing we can offer. We rarely get the best writing we can produce from our first drafts. Sometimes it takes 10-20+ drafts to get there.

3. HAVING UNREALISTIST FINANCIAL EXPECTATIONS.

I’d write even if I never had the opportunity to publish/sell my work. I write for the pleasure of inventing interesting stories and creating believable characters. I wish to publish and to share my writing with readers. I’d love to make a living from my writing. Yet, I know that few writers do. Most writers have day jobs or additional means of financial support. They cannot rely solely upon the money they earn from writing. In nearly all creative arts (writing, music, theater, painting, dance, photography, etc.) you will find an enormous number of artists passionately embracing their chosen field because of their love for that particular field. Many do hope to make it financially but they are not deterred if they do not.

8 – How would you suggest they can overcome that?

1. Write because you love to write. Acknowledge that making money would be wonderful, but admit that it’s not the primary reason that you write. That is not being idealistic; it’s being truthful.

2. Read at least one half hour everyday, longer if possible. Read to research specific material that relates to your subject matter, read for pleasure, and read for general study. Sometimes I read a novel all the way though and then read it last-chapter-forward to study how the story/characters were developed. I keep a journal for words I like, words I’ve not used. I also write down character traits and health conditions that I find interesting. For example, I learned about synesthesia, an extremely uncommon and rare neurologically based condition that blends the senses. It fascinates me. I researched synesthesia thoroughly and then gave one of my characters the condition in THE LOOSE END OF THE RAINBOW.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synesthesia

3.  Revise your writing.  Have people that you trust read your material and then give you constructive critiques. Strive to improve your writing, to shape and to polish it to the best of your ability.

9 – What do you find is the biggest motivator for people to succeed? Is it money, security, desire for fame, or something else?

If you are a cosmetic surgeon that gives rich and famous people face lifts and body enhancement surgeries I will suspect that your biggest motivation is money and perhaps fame. If you are a cosmetic surgeon that reconstructs cleft lip/palates, and other face/body deformities of underprivileged people I will suspect that you main motivation is not financial. A person can be motivated by more than one factor. In my case, two of my biggest motivators were writers, my mother and her father. They admired my creative ability to make up stories when I was a child. They believed that I could become a gifted writer. My mother and my grandfather taught and encouraged me. I often talk with them with my heart when I’m writing and I always thank them when I write “THE END” to a book.

10 – Who is the “perfect” person to read your book?

I have two “perfect” types of people, two very specific types. The first is the dejected and discouraged young person alone someplace feeling uncared for, misunderstood, mistreated, and/or neglected.  The second is the happy young person living in a safe and loving home with a supportive and nurturing family.

11 – Is there anything else you would like to share with us?

Yes, I wish to thank you for your generosity. It is extremely difficult to get the word out about a newly published book. My novel was published in March, 2009 by a small publishing company with a small budget. Most of the promotional costs are upon my shoulders and I have a small budget. I’m doing my best to get word about my novel out there. People cannot read or recommend it to others if they don’t know that it exists.  I thank you for being an avenue of support to struggling authors who need publicity assistance.

Topic to Discuss –   YOUTH DREAM TEAM

1 – How did you get interested in creating the YOUTH DREAM TEAM for your youth/YA fantasy novel, THE LOOSE END OF THE RAINBOW?

I started the YOUTH DREAM TEAM to give youth that like the novel a place where they can share their endorsements. It is a safe place on my website that does not reveal the last names or the city location of anyone under the age of 18. THE LOOSE END OF THE RAINBOW is a universal story. In time I hope to have YOUTH DREAM TEAM members across the globe. Becoming a member is a free opportunity.  I feature a photograph of the young person, a short summary about them, and their endorsement.  I need permission from parents or legal guardians for youth under 18. Eventually, I hope to provide members prizes, writing contests, collaborated writing opportunities, and more.  Please visit the endorsements page of THE LOOSE END OF THE RAINBOW to learn more about the YOUTH DREAM TEAM. www.astarrynightproductions.com

2 – Tell us a bit about your background. What have you done in the past that relates to the topic?

I’ve been a youth advocate and a volunteer writing mentor for young people for many years. On my website for the STARRY NIGHT CREATIVE ARTISTS COMMUNITY I answer questions that are emailed to me by teens.  If I’m unable to answer a question I will find someone that can answer it. Here is the link.   http://www.astarrynightproductions.com/creative/pages/qa.htm

3 – What advice would you give to someone who is interested in your topic?

I advise people to contact me. I will tell about my YOUTH DREAM TEAM and I will help them create their own. My email address is Pacini.Novelist@gmail.com.

4 – What do you see as the benefit to participating in groups and organizations that discuss this topic? My first thought would be networking opportunities and the chance for personal or business growth. What are your reasons?

My YOUTH DREAM TEAM project enables young people to correspond with a published author, it allows them to submit their writing in contests, it provide opportunities to young writers to collaborate on projects, and it promotes reading and writing.  These opportunities can contribute to personal growth and perhaps to business growth if young writers decide to do a “for profit” project together.

5 – What products do you offer that would help a person who is interested in this topic?

My novel and I intend to offer writing contests, book give-away projects, and reading/writing opportunities that will interest young people and teachers. My YOUTH DREAM TEAM is developing. I believe when more young people learn about it that they will have creative suggestions/ideas too.

6 – Who is the ideal person for these products? If each person that reads this was going to recommend these products to one person, what sort of person would they want to chose?

Ideally, the people that I most want to learn about my YOUTH DREAM TEAM are school principals, teachers, youth advocates, especially those that serve underprivileged and at-risk youth, and parents. They are the adults that I believe will most appreciate the value of such a project and how it can appeal to young people. The target age group for my YOUTH DREAM TEAM is approximately 13-24.

7 – What have you found to be the biggest stumbling block for people who want to learn more about this topic?

My youth/YA fantasy novel, THE LOOSE END OF THE RAINBOW, was published in March, 2009. The YOUTH DREAM TEAM is a new project associated with my novel. My biggest challenge is getting the word out there. I contact a few educators, librarians, youth advocates, parents, and young people each week. It is a word-of-mouth, phone call, and email effort. I am a “one woman” team. The word is slowly getting out there. I’m excited about the YOUTH DREAM TEAM project, it has great potential.

8 – How would you suggest they can overcome that?

I overcome the problem of people not knowing about my YOUTH DREAM TEAM by telling people about it. I diligently tell more people every week.

9 – What do you find is the biggest motivator to learn more about this topic?

I’m motivated to tell people about my novel and my YOUTH DREAM TEAM project. I’ve written a wonderful novel and I believe that the YOUTH DREAM TEAM project can become a terrific opportunity for young people, especially young people that are interested in writing. I believe that my novel and the YOUTH DREAM TEAM project will motivate young people to read and to write.

10 – Who is the “perfect” person to delve into this information?

Young readers, young writers, school principals, teachers, youth advocates, especially those that serve underprivileged and at-risk youth, and parents should appreciate learning about the YOUTH DREAM TEAM.

11 – Is there anything else you would like to share with us? Those questions are only slightly different from what I had and I’m going to add them as an alternative way to post for this blog.)

Again, I wish to thank you for your generosity. It is extremely difficult to get the word out about a newly published book or about a project like my YOUTH DREAM TEAM.  I thank you for being an avenue of support.

An Interview with Brenda Estacio about her book Gateway to DreamWorld

May 4, 2010 at 11:07 pm (author interview, author promotion, book promotion, Uncategorized, young adult fantasy)

Tell us the book title and your author name.  Gateway To DreamWorld – Brenda Estacio

What inspired the book?  My dad suffered a stroke and his health went downhill year after year.  I worried about him all the time and one night I had a dream where I was able to take him to a new realm where he was no longer ill and we were happy again.  The next day I started writing Gateway To DreamWorld.

What makes this book special to you?  It was an escape from reality where my dad would live a happy, healthy life with the entire family.

What makes this a book that other people MUST read and WHY?  We all have dreams and it is heartwarming to read that there is always hope.  It’s nice to read a story of dedication and love that although sad, has a happy ending.

What people NEED to read this book and WHY?  Young readers and the young at heart who enjoy fantasies.

What sparks your creativity? Any tips to help others spark their own creativity?  I pull ideas from life around me.  Sometimes it starts out in one direction and turns into a very different genre as I write.

What has been the biggest stumbling block in your writing? Can you share some tips to help others get past similar problems?

My biggest stumbling block was fine tuning the details that poured onto the page.  I would tell anyone trying to write a story to jot down your ideas first and work out from there.  I have found that if I get stumped, I can break the ideas apart and turn it into a new storyline.  One idea can blossom into several other directions and lead you to something extraordinary.

What do you think motivates people to become authors? What motivated you to get into this unusual industry?  There is a story inside all of us and while some express themselves verbally, others are better at putting our thoughts and feelings in writing.  I have always had an imagination and after a debilitating injury that put me off work for several months, I decided to write a manuscript based on various dreams and soon the pieces came together to create a sci-fi novel, The Sagris.  I have continued with my writing since that time.

Tell me about the most unusual things you have done to promote any books?  I love to write, however, I do not like the publicity portion.  I want to be a behind the scenes writer and would love to publish under someone else who loves to travel and visit with strangers.

FICTION – If there is a setting, tell us how you decided on that setting and what you did to create a complete and vivid setting for your readers?  I started with a general location for the story and changed it to suit the story as it progressed.

FICTION – What inspires you about the hero or heroine in your book? What makes them memorable for the reader? What motivates the hero and/or heroine? You can include information about both if you want.  The hero is this story is a young boy who would give up everything to save his family.  I hope this story reaches young adults everywhere and enlightens them to the world of fantasy where goods things can still come from tragedy.

FICTION – Is there a villain or something that causes friction in your story? Tell us about what or who it is and how that contributes to the story. Any details about conflict and friction is good information to know.

If there’s anything else you would like to share, this is the time and place.  I always believed that the hardest part would be writing the book.  I had no idea that the publisher would not handle the marketing.  I have since discovered that almost all promotion is up to the author.  Being a quiet homebody, I am having trouble in promoting my book and would appreciate any advise as to alternate marketing avenues.

Thank you for visiting with me and in closing, give us your website address and a link to order your book.  Bks2plz.blogspot.com

Overcomers Inc Interviews – Lynne Klippel

October 21, 2009 at 9:00 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , )

During this week, we will be sharing a wide variety of interviews with the authors of the Overcomers Inc anthology. You will learn many things about these authors, overcoming and yourself. Feel free to come back often to read more, check the recent post list for other interviews, or simply subscribe to the RSS feed for this blog to get all the interviews. Once you read the interview, visit the link at the bottom of the page – for an incredible Overcomers offer which is only available for a limited time.

Lynne Klippel is an author, book coach, and Managing Partner of www.LoveYourLIfePublishing.com, where she helps entrepreneurs write books to build their businesses.

1.
How did you get started writing? I’ve always loved words- reading them, speaking them, and writing them. When I was in first grade my grandmother entered a little poem I’d written into a contest and it was published. I loved seeing my name in print. I wrote awful poetry all through high school- thank goodness I got over that phase! During my corporate career, I wrote manuals, procedures, and lots of reports. My goal was to be clear so that staff members could know the information and use it quickly. Since then, I find that I write all the time, whether it is in my journal, for my newsletter, or on a book project. I tried writing a poem the other day…and it was still awful. I plan to stick with non-fiction!

2.
What do you do when you are not writing? I love to read, travel, cook, and spend time with my family. I have 3 sons, who were all very active when they were little. They would never take naps, but they would sit quietly when I read to them. I’m proud that all that reading paid off. They all like to read as adults. Can you imagine that I read all the Harry Potter books to them aloud, as well as the Chronicles of Narnia? Our family shares a love of a good story because of those early days of reading together.

3.
What would readers like to know about you? My first job was working in a library when I was 13. Bet you are not surprised!

4.
What inspired you to be a contributing author in Overcomers, Inc., The idea for Overcomers, Inc. came to me in a dark time. My mother, father and brother all had cancer. Everyone was worried and fearful. I wished I had a positive, uplifting book to send my brother to read during his chemotherapy treatments. Since I coach aspiring authors, I knew lots of people who had a great story to tell. So, I put out a call for authors who wanted to participate in a very special book project and within about a month, the Overcomers project began.

5.
Why is the topic of Overcoming important to you? I jokingly say that I have a PhD from the school of hard knocks. I’ve had some very hard times in my life and been blessed greatly. My faith, friends, and family always supported me, even when I was so broke I was selling plasma to pay my bills after leaving an abusive spouse. I’ve seen, in my life and in others, that we are never alone. We can always find the courage to go on and overcome a tragedy or problem. Sometimes we just need a reminder of how strong we really are. Overcomers, Inc gives you that reminder in every story.

6.
Why are you specially qualified to write about this topic? In my personal life and my career, I’ve seen the courage of the ordinary person who overcomes an illness, a job loss, a life-altering injury, or a terrible mistake. There are heroes around each of us, in every community. These unsung heroes have inspiring stories that make you feel stronger and braver. Each Overcomers Inc author is a hero to me, and will be hero to everyone who reads the book.

7.
How many books have you written? Overcomers, Inc is my 4th book.

8.
What are the titles of your books and what genres are they? Secrets to Surviving HIS Job Loss: A workbook for wives of the unexpectedly unemployed- self help, Web Wonder Women- business, Who am I to Write a Book?- writing

9.
How do you manage to keep yourself focused and on track when you’re writing a book? I imagine the reader of the book and how the book will help him or her. Since I love to read so much, I always want to make sure that I am giving my very best to each person who reads one of my books.

10.
Do you write to make money, for the love of writing or both?
I write to communicate an idea that will help someone. My books all teach and inspire readers. I’ve always wanted to make the world a better place. It’s my prayer that when someone reads one of my books, they gain an idea, a spark of inspiration, or a new viewpoint that blesses their lives. Writing is part of my job as a book coach and publisher. I feel fortunate that I can make my living in the world of books, ideas, and concepts.

11.
What makes you proud about your involvement with Overcomers, Inc.?
I am so proud of the group of authors who came together to create this very special book. Each author added an important story to the book. As a publisher, I am also very proud of the quality of the stories in this book. Each author wrote from the heart so the stories are all powerful, fascinating, and uplifting. When you read Overcomers, Inc, you’ll laugh out loud and you may shed a few tears. It is an amazing collection of true stories that you won’t be able to forget.

12.
Will you write more books? Yes, I love writing.

13.
What do you have in the works now?
I’m spending lots of time writing articles, website copy, and writing in my journal. I’ve learned many lessons during this year and I want to capture them before they slip away in the busyness of life.

14.
What does the future hold for you and your books?
I wish I knew! While I don’t know the future, I do know that I’ll be led each step along the way. I have a deep faith in God and trust Him to lead me in all areas of my life.

15.
What makes this a book that other people MUST read and WHY? Our world is full of doom and gloom. There are so many difficult things happening now- people are ill, unemployed, suffering from the impact of war and poverty, and full of fear. Overcomers Inc demonstrates the power and resilience of the human spirit. We can overcome our challenges. This book reminds us how brave, strong, and creative we all are.

16.
What people NEED to read this book and WHY? Overcomers Inc is perfect for anyone who is troubled or worried. If anyone has struggles, problems, fears or pain, Overcomers, Inc will shine a ray of hope into their lives. If you have a friend who is ill, out of work, going through a divorce, or is in any sort of pain, give her this book. It will help. This book is also perfect to keep in your car or by your bed to read whenever you have a few minutes and want to feel inspired.

17.
What sparks your creativity? Any tips to help others spark their own creativity? It’s hard to be creative when you are exhausted. Getting enough rest is very important for everyone’s creativity. I also find that I get great ideas when I’m doing something else. If I get stuck while I’m writing, I will take a walk, clean my house, or cook something. I also try to meditate daily, which keeps my mind clear. One of my favorite ways to stay creative is to laugh. A funny show, movie, or good joke can bring laughter and creativity out in most everyone.

18.
What do you think motivates people to become authors? What motivated you to get into this unusual industry? People love to share their stories and wisdom. I’ve learned a lot in my life and have a desire to help others buy sharing what I’ve learned. I believe that desire to share wisdom is universal and makes most people interested in writing a book.

19.
If a potential reader thinks that your book wouldn’t interest them, what would you say to convince them to buy? I’m thinking something better than “Its the greatest book ever.” Give me something more specific :) Overcomers Inc has universal appeal. Everyone has had moments of doubt, fear, stress, and confusion. This book will give you wisdom and courage to face any challenge life can bring you with grace. Reading this book won’t give you a perfect life, but it will give you the ability to cope with your life in a stronger, more powerful way.

20.
What is your final message to our readers? Hold on. You are not alone. Your problems don’t control your life or your future. You can overcome the challenges in your path. It will take courage, wisdom, and hard work but it can be done. Let Overcomers, Inc be your inspiration. As you read these powerful stories, soak up the possibilities in each page, learn from the authors, and believe that you can triumph over trouble. God bless you all.

Overcomers Inc Interviews – Lauren P. Salamone

October 21, 2009 at 1:00 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , )

During this week, we will be sharing a wide variety of interviews with the authors of the Overcomers Inc anthology. You will learn many things about these authors, overcoming and yourself. Feel free to come back often to read more, check the recent post list for other interviews, or simply subscribe to the RSS feed for this blog to get all the interviews. Once you read the interview, visit the link at the bottom of the page – for an incredible Overcomers offer which is only available for a limited time.

Lauren P. Salamone — author and mentor — inspires college students with her philosophy that a positive transformation in college brings with it the power to enjoy a dynamic and abundant life. Find her free college-success tips at www.CollegeGuidanceGuru.com

1.
How did you get started writing? I love to read…to teach…to teach writing. So, I guess it was bound to happen that I became a writer myself.

2.
What do you do when you are not writing? I am a mentor to college students and publish an inspirational newsletter called, “Time-Tested Tips to Help You Love College.” I also teach business writing as an executive trainer. Currently I am co-producer of an online resume workshop, ResumeRoom.com.

3.
What would readers like to know about you? I am a life-long learner and mightily enthusiastic about taking on new challenges, ones that inspire me.

4.
What inspired you to be a contributing author in Overcomers, Inc., I realized that my own life transformed as the result of a medical roadblock that I had to overcome. It dawned on me that others might benefit from my story. If I touch even one soul in need of inspiration, then my decision to participate will have been well worth it.

5.
Why is the topic of Overcoming important to you? I have come to realize that our greatest challenges in life can actually result in positive transformations that we wouldn’t otherwise experience. The word bittersweet comes to mind. But it helps to have the right mindset in order to glean a positive takeaway from any challenge to be overcome.

6.
Why are you specially qualified to write about this topic? Personal experience is where my contribution originates. Experience is the best teacher. While the adversity I overcame will differ from most of the readers’ personal situations, I hope that the theme of the lesson I learned will resonate with many.

7.
How many books have you written? One…nearly completed.

8.
What are the titles of your books and what genres are they? My first book, How To Be U, is due in book stores this spring. It’s an inspirational college guidance book that shows girls how to step into their brilliance in college…and in life.

9.
How do you manage to keep yourself focused and on track when you’re writing a book? Inspiration to get my message out to my readers motivates me. From there, I find it requires self discipline to keep to my writing schedule. This can be especially challenging with all the other responsibilities that demand my attention. (I’m sure everyone can relate.) I continue to tweak my writing schedule as a result and do my
best to establish boundaries.

10.
Do you write to make money, for the love of writing or both? First and foremost, I write to share the messages about which I am passionate.

11.
What makes you proud about your involvement with Overcomers, Inc.? I’m honored to have been invited to participate, and I’m blessed to be in the company of such an extraordinary group of authors.

12.
Will you write more books? I will definitely keep writing. Whether or not my words continue to take their shape in book form remains to be seen. I tend to allow my instinct to be my guide as I stay open to recognizing the opportunities that appear on my path.

13.
What do you have in the works now? Still finishing my current book.

14.
What does the future hold for you and your books? I plan to continue mentoring college students, guiding them through a meaningful transformation that brings with it the power to enjoy a dynamic and abundant life. It looks as if I will be sharing my message on the speaking circuit, an opportunity I’m excited to embrace.

15.
What makes this a book that other people MUST read and WHY? I myself cannot wait to read Overcomers, Inc. At this point we authors have seen only tidbits of each others’ chapters. I’ve learned a great deal about my fellow authors during this process, but not read their actual submissions to the book. Based upon what I’ve learned at this point, this much I can tell you: this book is going to ROCK!

16.
What people NEED to read this book and WHY? Anyone who desires an inspirational soul massage should read this book. Or present it as a gift to someone who does. Not only has each author overcome adversity in his/her life, but each one has a creative and unique way of sharing the story. I expect the process of reading Overcomers, Inc. will be quite the ride, complete with tears, angst, relief and, of course, laughter. As a result of experiencing the stories in this book, readers will find themselves empowered, inspired, and newly transformed.

17.
What sparks your creativity? Any tips to help others spark their own creativity? Creativity comes from being passionate about your message and opening your heart and soul to inspiration. I think it helps to know that frustration can actually be a sign that you’re getting closer to reaching your goal. Then you realize that obstacles can actually open you up to your creative process rather than dragging you down.

18.
What do you think motivates people to become authors? What motivated you to get into this unusual industry? Read my chapter in Overcomers, Inc. ☺

19.
Tell me about the most unusual things you have done to promote any books? I’m a newbie to book promotion. But I’m certainly learning that it helps tremendously to have a committed and powerful team!

20.
If a potential reader thinks that your book wouldn’t interest them, what would you say to convince them to buy? I’m thinking something better than “Its the greatest book ever.” Give me something more specific :) I assume you’re talking about the Overcomers book here? None of us lives a life without adversity along the way. Just as we feel better chatting with our girlfriends about our ups and downs and commiserating in the process, Overcomers Inc. provides the same relief those chats give us. Only with Overcomers you’re getting the added dynamic of experts in overcoming adversity speaking right to you when you need it. It’s medicine for the soul. I can’t imagine a person alive – females especially – who will not find inspiration from the words on its pages.

21.
What is your final message to our readers? Allow yourself to hear what your heart wants you to know.

Overcomers Inc Interviews – Kimberly L. Martin, CEC

October 21, 2009 at 9:00 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , )

During this week, we will be sharing a wide variety of interviews with the authors of the Overcomers Inc anthology. You will learn many things about these authors, overcoming and yourself. Feel free to come back often to read more, check the recent post list for other interviews, or simply subscribe to the RSS feed for this blog to get all the interviews. Once you read the interview, visit the link at the bottom of the page – for an incredible Overcomers offer which is only available for a limited time.

Kimberly Martin is a Certified Executive Coach and Principal of Martin Business Leadership, which creates custom business relationship strategies for health and wellness providers. They’ll help you grow your business, bring in new clients, solidify existing relationships and have enjoyable, authentic, effortless selling interactions! Visit www.MartinBusinessLeadership.com

1.
How did you get started writing? I have always felt that I had a book “inside” me. About 5 years ago I took a Creative Writing night school course at a local university to learn some writing techniques and get writing. This course helped me to bridge the gap between wanting to write and actually doing it. I was very busy with my corporate career at the time, so I didn’t do much else with my desire to start writing a book back then. When I left my corporate position and started my coaching practice in 2006, my creative juices started flowing again and my desire to write that book returned – now with the time to do it. I started writing a book and learning about what is involved with writing a book in early 2009. Shortly after I began to write, I was introduced to the Overcomers, Inc. anthology project and jumped at the chance to become a published author along with a group of like-minded visionaries and experienced experts in the book industry.

2.
What do you do when you are not writing? I am a business coach working with health and wellness entrepreneurs to help them grow their business, strengthen client relationships and promote their services with authenticity, integrity & joy! I offer coaching, resources and programs to assist clinicians and service providers in building and growing their business. Besides my work, I love spending time at our cottage, going for walks with my Portuguese Water Dog Emma, and travelling the world with my husband Dave. In addition, I’m a life-long learner with a particular interest in health & wellness, positive psychology and new age thinking.

3.
What would readers like to know about you? That I walk the talk. I believe; that which we struggle with most in our lives is what we are meant to teach. I am a former healthcare worker who never imagined that one day I would have a career in sales or business, yet I found a way to do both with authenticity, integrity and joy which lead to my success. Today as a service provider in my coaching practice, I help others find a way to merge the unique ethical challenges of being a health and wellness provider having to sell and promote their offering with an integrity-based business strategy. Everyone has their own unique strengths, talents and skills that can be used to make promoting their offering natural and enjoyable.

4.
What inspired you to be a contributing author in Overcomers, Inc. The chance to be a part of a book project, and author for the first time with like-minded visionaries who collectively desire to uplift the world and be of service.

5.
Why is the topic of Overcoming important to you? Everyone has faced obstacles in their life that they have overcome. For some reason, hearing other peoples stories of overcoming inspires us and lets us know that we too can get through, survive and even excel past the challenges life puts in our path. Being a part of the Overcomers, Inc., anthology allows me to share a snippet of my life and some of the challenges I’ve overcome. I know our stories will inspire others who are struggling to ‘overcome’ in their own brilliant way.

6.
Why are you specially qualified to write about this topic? I may not specially qualified to write about overcoming in general, as I know that all human beings have had to ‘overcome’ in their life, but I am specially qualified to write about what I have overcome in my life. What I write about in my chapter is just one of many of the challenges I’ve faced as a growing, developing being. I’ve simply taken the time to reflect back on the particular challenge of merging health & wellness with business acumen and shared what I’ve learned, for those to whom this is a struggle. The vast majority of health and wellness educational programs lack business education within the curriculum. The focus is on clinical skills and other aspects of client treatment. I know this intimately as; a former healthcare practitioner, having spent a 15 year business career in corporate sales and sales management in the healthcare industry and through my work with health and wellness professionals in my coaching practice today. The business coaching I do focuses in on this gap and it’s what I write about in my chapter.

7.
How many books have you written? This is my first!

8.
How do you manage to keep yourself focused and on track when you’re writing a book? Having a writing partner really helps. (Someone else who is writing their own book.) We set goals together to keep each other on track. Whether I have a writing partner or not, it’s critical to schedule time in my calendar to write. I schedule it in like any other important appointment or meeting etc. Also, I have a vision of why I’m writing this book – what it will bring to me and those who read it – and I post this where I can see it. This reminds me why I’m doing what I’m doing and draws me toward my goal. It’s imperative to make writing a priority, and write every day or at least sit down in the ‘space’ to write. I remind myself why I’m doing this as often as I need to by reviewing my vision. Oh yeah, and I have plenty of chocolate around to reward myself for my accomplishments!

9.
Do you write to make money, for the love of writing or both? The predominant reason that I write is for the love of it. I don’t know that being a writer is one of those professions that one could count on to make money at! If any money comes my way from what I write about – that’s glorious – but it’s not my primary goal. The two main reasons I write are: 1. it’s cathartic for me. It’s a way for me to express what’s inside, overcome my own struggles, and through it, glean insights that don’t come to me in other ways and, 2. as a way to connect with others. I believe that we are all more alike than we are different. When we hear each others stories, we start to see that and somehow this is comforting. We realize we’re not alone; other people are facing or experiencing the same or similar things that we are and it makes us feel a part of something bigger than ourselves. I write because I want others to know that, and because I think I need to be reminded of this too.

10.
What makes you proud about your involvement with Overcomers, Inc.? Being an author for the first time was a HUGE accomplishment for me. For me there was always this chasm between my desire to write and actually doing it. Contributing a chapter to the Overcomers, Inc. book closed that chasm. It didn’t just bridge the gap – it eliminated it! No more chasm. I’ve done it. What that means to me is that I can do it again and again… I’m very proud that I overcame what was keeping me from ‘writing my book’ all of these years. If I were to describe what was holding me back it was a combination of fear – that I didn’t have anything important to say, and the unknown – not knowing what it took to write, publish and market a book, and how critical each of these steps are for the books success. All the things I know now!

11.
Will you write more books? Absolutely!

12.
What do you have in the works now? They are still just ideas right now. They will be “born” after the launch of Overcomers, Inc.

13.
What does the future hold for you and your books? To continue to share my life with the world in a way that keeps me connected to others through sharing, enlightening, inspiring, positive reciprocal interactions.

14.
What makes this a book that other people MUST read and WHY? It’s a must read because there is something in this book that you need to know. Having the perspective and experience of 36 visionaries all wrapped up under one cover is such a fabulous way to gain access to the diversity of multiple experiences. I know that those who read this book will identify with at least one or more of the challenges faced by the authors in this book. You’ll read it to see how they overcame their struggles and went on to find their own brilliance as you find yours.

15.
What people NEED to read this book and WHY? Keep an open mind. Open to the knowledge that we all have a story. We’ve all faced challenges in our lives that we weren’t expecting. It’s almost guaranteed that when 2 people face the same challenge they will interpret and react to it in different ways. The way we see the world is based on our own unique set of circumstances and beliefs and that’s ok. The stories shared in this book will reflect how we are different and also similar to each other. There is no right or wrong. It just is.

16.
What sparks your creativity? Any tips to help others spark their own creativity? Both quiet and doing spark my creativity. It’s important to have a balance of both. An overabundance of one or the other seems to block my creativity. I take time to meditate or be quiet for 10-20 minutes every day. I let my thoughts come, but don’t attach to them. I watch them pass like clouds in the sky. Quieting my mind is what brings me closer to source and to my life’s purpose. Doing, with awareness often brings ideas. I may think “I don’t like that” or “I love this” and so I choose differently, or a more of, as a next step to create the life I want.

17.
What do you think motivates people to become authors? What motivated you to get into this unusual industry? I can’t say why others choose to be authors, but I see writing as an art form. It’s a way to express oneself. The words we choose are a finger print of who we are and how we think and feel. Just like the combination of colors and textures a painter might choose. I have been writing as a way to express myself for as long as I could write. For me, it’s always been private – in my journal etc. Writing is simply an extension of who I am. It took a lot of courage for me to put my words into the public domain. What motivated me to make that leap was having more confidence
in myself and my desire to have a positive impact on a larger audience. That’s why I became an author.

18.
If a potential reader thinks that your book wouldn’t interest them, what would you say to convince them to buy? I’m thinking something better than “Its the greatest book ever.” Give me something more specific :) Overcomers, Inc. is a collection of knowledge, experience and ideas from 38 ordinary people who have overcome extraordinary challenges. The beauty of this is in its diversity. In this book you will find many approaches to overcoming life’s challenges – not just one. If connecting with others through reading is a passion of yours as it is mine, then this book gives you the variety that is sure to resonate and interest you with every exciting page and chapter. Imagine the wealth of knowledge and experience 36 people can bring? Reading an anthology reminds me of taking a cruise! You get to visit different places and have multiple experiences to maximize your exposure to what you desire in a compact space and time. It’s low risk, high reward! You can sit back and enjoy visiting the lives and experiences of visionaries who are sharing their stories with you so that you can more easily overcome your life’s challenges.

19.
What is your final message to our readers? Our mission is to give readers the knowledge and emotional resilience to face the most difficult times in life by sharing inspiring stories of triumph and fortitude. This book has been created to be of service to you and to be a life-long resource for you. You will meet extraordinary people in the pages of this book whose stories resonate with you today, and those whose stories you don’t connect with at this moment. Keep this book as a resource because we never know what’s coming next in our lives. Chances are in the coming days or years, this book and its stories may be just what you’re looking for to comfort you and be a resource in a new way as you move through your brilliant life.

1.
How did you get started writing?
As far back as I can remember, I’ve enjoyed writing. It has always been a way to “express” myself, get my feelings out and communicate in ways I was not able to do with the spoken word.

My first full story was written when I was eight. I had a teacher who told me I was a very good writer and should do more of it. I remember it as if was yesterday (although it was nearly 50 years ago) how happy I felt when my teacher praised my writing.

Her words impacted me greatly.

2.
What do you do when you are not writing?
I love being out in nature, taking care of my animals, sharing time with family, and studying spiritual matters. I love learning as much as I can about new thought, ancient wisdom. I play a mean game of “Hand and Foot” cards. I love to power walk, bicycle ride, and work in my flower gardens. I have several going at one time which feeds my spirit in a very deep way.

3.
What inspired you to be a contributing author in Overcomers, Inc.,
I first heard about the Overcomers, Inc., project when I was invited to be the marketing director on the project. Within a very short period of time I realized how powerful the messages in the book would be and what an impact it could have on readers around the globe.

I have not been disappointed and have found this book to have a lot of “divineness” contained in each chapter. I am very grateful to be involved on many levels with the launch of this amazing book.

4.
Why is the topic of Overcoming important to you?
Over the time I have been involved in this book, the importance has changed. My chapter is called Second Chances. I share the story of when my father had a massive heart attack in 1989. He was in a coma for nearly a month. Years prior we had had a strained relationship, much more my doing than his.

When he had a miraculous healing I swore I would never take our relationship for granted again. The twenty years since that time was a time of healing and creating an incredible amount of great memories with my father and mother.
On October 12, 2009 my father transitioned after a very short diagnosis with small cell extensive lung cancer that had metastasized to his brain. It was just over 3 weeks from diagnose to passing. During this three week period I was able to simply share quality time with my dad as there was no healing between us that needed to be done. We were completely in resolve.

The book arrived at his home only days before he passed. He was able to have the story read to him and know in his heart we were complete.

5.
Why are you specially qualified to write about this topic?
I believe virtually anyone is qualified to write about overcoming adversity. With the experience I recently went through with my father, I am keenly aware of my personal qualifications. I hope through my example and my sharing others will be able to see something in the story that will make their life more meaningful and complete.

A great example of someone who could add to a book like this is my mother. With the loss of her lifelong partner, soul mate and best friend I can only imagine how intense it is and what lay in front of her. My parents were just shy of 61 years of marriage having met in Belgium shortly after the end of WWII.

6.
How many books have you written?
I have written four traditional books prior to Overcome rs, Inc., and dozens of ebooks.

7.
What are the titles of your books and what genres are they?

  • Message of Hope
  • Law of Achievement
  • Workplace Miracles
  • 101 Ways to Get Your Foot in the Door
  • Street Smarts Marketing for Small Businesses

8.
How do you manage to keep yourself focused and on track when you’re writing a book?
Focus is not really an issue when I am writing a book. I know I have something to say that a segment of the population will enjoy reading and likely benefit from. My focus comes from knowing the words I write can literally shift one’s perception.

9.
Do you write to make money, for the love of writing or both?

Both. I would say it is more for the love of writing, but I also know when an author has some business and marketing savvy they can make a great living from their writing. I feel very blessed to be both a talented writer and one who enjoys making money from my writings.

10.
What makes you proud about your involvement with Overcomers, Inc.?
As the marketing arm of the book I have had the good fortune to work with the other incredible authors, teaching them the valuable skill and mindset of marketing; some more so than others depending on what they knew coming into the project.

I am very proud of the fact that many of the authors will take what they have learned from this project to use for other books they write.

I am also very proud of the quality of stories in the book and know beyond a shadow of a doubt the messages in the book can, and will, change lives for the better.

11.
Will you write more books?
Absolutely! Writing is my spirit. I cannot imagine not writing. It is just what I do.

12.
What do you have in the works now?
Prior to my father’s recent passing, I have been working on my memoirs. Since his passing I am finding a strong desire to write a book on living a life of forgiveness, healing and love. I don’t have a complete handle on exactly what the book will be about, but as with my other books, it will unfold and take on a life of its own as I allow myself to be open and I simply sit down to write.

13.
What does the future hold for you and your books?
More than anything, I know I will keep writing and with the success of Overcomers, Inc., I sense more projects like this with the publishers, Lynne Klippel and Christine Kloser of Love Your Life, Publishing. I see myself going deeper into writing, publishing and marketing books. This is just what I do and I love it. I am passionate about taking books to market.

I do know I will continue to mentor other authors who simply need to know how to gain visibility for their books and their message.

14.
What makes this a book that other people MUST read and WHY?
Nothing is a must-do, but the why of the book is, “It will shift your perception forever.” With each and every authors’ contribution there is a powerful message; one that exemplifies the power of the human spirit and how truly resilient we are.

15.
What people NEED to read this book and WHY?
Overcomers, Inc., is a book that anyone who wants/needs to read about the power of the human spirit, miracles, life purpose and how amazing the human spirit is would benefit.

16.
What sparks your creativity? Any tips to help others spark their own creativity?
Just about anything sparks my creativity. What I do with that spark is up to me. I am deeply fascinated with many aspects of what life offers.

With my father’s passing I tapped into a profound level of creativity that has been bubbling under the surface for some time. Since his passing I have been writing some very “deep” material. In addition to my marketing blog, I have a spiritual blog that has not been lacking for information since my dad’s transition.

I tap into my creativity by listening to meditative music or certain artists. One of my favorites is James Twyman’s 12 Prayers and The Moses Code. His music speaks to my soul.

The number one tip I have for others to tap into their creativity is to take time to sit quietly and allow your thoughts to surface. Think about how your writing will impact others and what others would miss if you don’t put your words on paper.

17.
What do you think motivates people to become authors? What motivated you to get into this unusual industry?
For most of the authors I know it was because they had something to say and were compelled to share their message.
A mentioned previously, I have been motivated by various experiences that I just had to share with others through the written word.

18.
Tell me about the most unusual things you have done to promote any books?

Wow! There are so many things I have done that I am hard pressed to pick just one. However, a few years back when I was one of the authors for 101 Ways to Get Your Foot in the Door, I made a public announcement within the business community the book would be out by a specific date.

I put together a live event in which those who were going to attend had to prepay for their copy of the book. Having never done this before I was not sure how well it would work. But I learned a long, long time ago, if don’t try you create your own failure.

So, myself and the other authors began selling seats into a live event. Not only were we going to take the book to market with no out of pocket expense, we found sponsors for the event which helped a great deal to get the word out about the book. The event was a huge success and generated even more “buzz” and sales.

19.
If a potential reader thinks that your book wouldn’t interest them, what would you say to convince them to buy? I’m thinking something better than “Its the greatest book ever.” Give me something more specific :)

There are so many different stories in the book, it is bound to appeal to a large cross section of people. If you are dealing with any type of challenge this book can (and will) bring comfort, bring laughter at times and tears other times. The energy in the stories is incredibly powerful.

20.
What is your final message to our readers?
Realize that life changes, often without any warning. Live your life in resolve each and every day. Avoid being one that lives in “someday”. Someday I will do this, someday I will do that.

Whatever your dreams, take action on them. If there is someone you need to mend a relationship with, do so now, not “someday”.

When you read the stories in Overcomers, Inc., you will find this advice to be even truer than you ever imagined.
Remember, there is no guarantee of what tomorrow brings. The point of power is in the now.

1.
How did you get started writing?
I have always been a talker! I started with a journal, some note paper, and a recording system. I started recording and having it transcribed. The more I practiced writing, the easier the words came. However, I still think of myself as a talker first and a writer second.

2.
What do you do when you are not writing?
Speaking, networking, reading, marketing and helping clients to do all of those things. On a personal note I love entertaining friends!

3.
What would readers like to know about you? I have been a business owner and a corporate trainer to business owners for 20 years. When 2009 hit, I decided to pass on becoming an employee again and use my gifts to inspire others and be the CEO of my business and my life.

4.
What inspired you to be a contributing author in Overcomers, Inc., I have been following Christine Kloser one of the publishers for a couple of years. I placed a picture of the book cover on my vision board in January of this year. I knew an opportunity to write and be published would come my way; this was the perfect choice for my first published work.

5.
Why is the topic of Overcoming important to you? So many people feel stuck right now. The news is so much about gloom and doom; people really need uplifting true examples to inspire them to keep moving in the direction of their dreams.

6.
Why are you specially qualified to write about this topic? I was down-sized and out-sized several times in the past few years. I know how it feels to be given notice and what to do about it. For me, this was the last time.
7.
How many books have you written? This is my first!

8.
Will you write more books? Yes, definitely.

9.
What do you have in the works now? I am working on a guide book for young women just starting out in the business world.

10.
What does the future hold for you and your books? Many more…from my own books to being featured in anthologies to compiling anthologies.

11.
What makes this a book that other people MUST read and WHY? My story is not one of serious adversity like some of the others. I know their words will inspire those who are going through life-changing adversity.

12.
What sparks your creativity? Any tips to help others spark their own creativity? Music inspires me; especially jazz. I find the flow and rhythm of the songs work with the flow of the words.

13.
What do you think motivates people to become authors? What motivated you to get into this unusual industry? Honestly, I am not an author to sell millions of copies and become the next famous writer. I write to be known in my industry as an expert. I will use my writing and published works to further my marketing strategies.

14.
If a potential reader thinks that your book wouldn’t interest them, what would you say to convince them to buy? I’m thinking something better than “Its the greatest book ever.” Give me something more specific :)
This may not be a trying time for you personally; but I bet you know someone who is struggling. This book will be a great gift of hope, courage and inspiration. Please give it as a gift; especially to a family member or close friend, so that when you do need it, they can gift it back to you.

15.

What is your final message to our readers? Don’t ever give up; don’t give up hope, use whatever courage you have to inspire yourself to go forward. This too shall pass; we all have rocks in our roads. May you find yourself in these stories and may it inspire you to climb over those rocks.
